Biography

Lee was the son of Dee Ziff Ab­er­na­thy and Cla­ra Braw­ner, and hus­band of Ed­na Lou­ise Am­mons.

He was in­duct­ed in­to the Gos­pel Mu­sic As­so­ci­ation Hall of Fame (1973), the South­ern Mu­sic Hall of Fame (1983), and the South­ern Gos­pel Mu­sic As­so­cia­tion Hall of Fame (1997). The Am­eri­can So­ci­ety of Com­pos­ers, Au­thors and Pub­lish­ers gave him its Pio­neer Award in 1984.
