Biography

Amps was edu­cat­ed at Peterhouse, Cam­bridge (BA 1858, MA 1862).

He played the or­gan at the Col­lege for some time, and at King’s Col­lege (1855–76) and Christ’s Col­lege.

He con­duct­ed the Camb­ridge Uni­ver­si­ty Mu­sic­al So­ci­ety for ma­ny years, and was known as a com­pos­er of pi­ano­for­te so­na­tas and part songs.
