Died: June 13, 1874, Nas­sau, Hess­en-Nas­sau, Prus­sia.

Biography

Friedrich was the son of se­mi­na­ry pro­fess­or Jo­hann Ad­am Anthes.

He stu­died theo­lo­gy, then served pas­tor-ates at Her­born, Hai­ger, and Ack­er­bach.

He re­tired in 1857 due to poor health.

Note: The au­thor­ship of the tune Anthes is in dis­pute. Some at­trib­ute it to J. A. An­thes, who is cred­it­ed with a slight­ly dif­fer­ent ver­sion called An­tal­ya.
