Late 19th Century

Barnes’ song Believe and Live was published in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1881.

There was an Edwin Harry Barnes in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, who copyrighted two secular songs in 1929 (Down on That Ches’peake Shore and In Love), but we don’t know if this was the same person as the Gospel songwriter.
