Biography

Vilhelm was the son of Lud­vig Har­boe Birch­edal and Agathe Jo­hanne Hu­sum, hus­band of Emi­lie Chris­ti­ane Mey­er (mar­ried Ap­ril 4, 1837, Co­pen­ha­gen), and fa­ther of Uffe Birk­edal.

He served as par­ish priest in Søn­der Omme (1840–49), and in Rys­linge, start­ing in 1849.

He was made a Knight of the Or­der of the Dan­ne­brog in 1856.
