Anne was the daughter of Thomas Dudley (steward of the Earl of Lincoln, and second governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony) and Dorothy Yorke, and wife of Simon Bradstreet (twice governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony).
She was the first Puritan figure in American literature, and the first published writer in the Britain’s American colonies.
