Biography

Brooke was edu­cat­ed at the City of Lon­don School.

After en­ter­ing com­mer­cial life, he be­came in­ter­est­ed in hym­no­lo­gy, and learned much from Da­ni­el Sedg­wick.

Originally a Bap­tist, Brooke moved to the Church of Eng­land in 1867.
