Died: Oc­to­ber 3, 1947, Sto­ney­crest Nurs­ing Home (now the Crest Lodge Nurs­ing Centre), Bea­con Hill, Hind­head, Sur­rey, Eng­land.

Cremated: Wok­ing Cre­ma­to­ri­um, Sur­rey, Eng­land, Oc­to­ber 7, 1947. His ash­es were sub­se­quent­ly scat­tered in the Gar­den of Re­mem­brance there.

Biography

Percy was the hus­band of Lu­cy Bond, daugh­ter of sur­geon Tho­mas Bond (mar­ried Ap­ril 9, 1896, at Christ Church, Broad­way, West­min­ster).

He at­tend­ed the Mer­chant Tay­lors’ School; Guild­hall School of Mu­sic; Roy­al Col­lege of Mu­sic; and Wor­ces­ter Col­lege, Ox­ford (BA 1891, MA 1894, MusD 1897).

He served as Mu­sic Mas­ter of Rug­by School (1894); or­gan­ist at Wells Ca­thed­ral (1896); Mu­sic Mas­ter, Har­row School (1901–27); Pro­fess­or of Mu­sic, Dub­lin Uni­ver­si­ty (1910–20); and Pro­fess­or of Mu­sic, Lon­don Uni­ver­si­ty (1925–30).

He was knight­ed in 1937.
