Biography

Percy was the hus­band of Lu­cy Bond.

He at­tend­ed the Mer­chant Tay­lors’ School; Guild­hall School of Mu­sic; Roy­al Col­lege of Mu­sic; and Wor­ces­ter Col­lege, Ox­ford (BA 1891, MA 1894, MusD 1897).

He served as Mu­sic Mas­ter of Rug­by School (1894); or­gan­ist at Wells Ca­thed­ral (1896); Mu­sic Mas­ter, Har­row School (1901–27); Pro­fess­or of Mu­sic, Dub­lin Uni­ver­si­ty (1910–20); and Pro­fess­or of Mu­sic, Lon­don Uni­ver­si­ty (1925–30).

He was knight­ed in 1937.
