Biography

Burns’ fa­ther, a Sal­va­tion Ar­my mem­ber, could play sev­er­al in­stru­ments. Often fa­ther, mo­ther, and their four child­ren would ga­ther round to sing and play hymns.

Alex emi­grat­ed to Am­eri­ca in 1923. It was in Phi­la­del­phia, Penn­syl­van­ia, that he wrote his first chor­us, Christ for Me.
