Biography

Calvin was the son of Pe­ter Bushey and Isa­belle Jane Ray Tay­lor. He mar­ried twice, to Eliz­abeth Scott (1891) and Ca­ther­ine Re­bec­ca Hall.

In the ear­ly part of his ca­reer, he taught in a sing­ing school at Prair­ie, Ohio. He lat­er taught in Ma­son Ci­ty, Io­wa; was a pro­fess­or of mu­sic at Ells­worth Col­lege, Io­wa Falls, Io­wa; and taught in Gil­man and Pe­or­ia, Il­li­nois.
