Biography

Ellen was the daugh­ter of Maine pas­tor Na­than­iel S. Jean­ette But­ler and Jean­nette Em­ery.

Her hymn God of the Past, Ac­cept Our Praise was pub­lished in Sy­ra­cuse, New York, in 1910.

Her obi­tu­ary stat­ed that for ma­ny years she was a com­pa­nion of Mrs. Han­ni­bal Ham­lin, wi­dow of Am­eri­can Vice Pre­si­dent Han­ni­bal Ham­lin.
