We spe­cu­late this per­son may be Con­gre­ga­tion­al min­is­ter Charles Car­roll Car­pen­ter (1836–1918). The words to The Lit­tle Pil­grims are said to have come from the Con­gre­gat­ion­alist, to which Charles Car­pen­ter was a con­trib­ut­ing ed­it­or (1886–1906).
