Biography

Cobb earned a mu­sic di­plo­ma from the West­ern Nor­mal and Col­lege of Mu­sic in Dal­las, Tex­as, and taught sing­ing schools across Tex­as and neigh­bor­ing states. He was known for the Cobb Quar­tet, made up of his four daugh­ters.

Cobb was ed­it­ing hym­nals for the Quart­et Mu­sic Com­pa­ny of Fort Worth, Tex­as, by the 1890s. In 1935, George H. P. Sho­wal­ter re­cruit­ed him to work for the Firm Foun­da­tion, a month­ly Church­es of Christ pe­rio­di­cal pub­lished in Hous­ton, Tex­as.
