Eustace was the son of hymnist Josiah Conder.
He studied at Spring Hill College in Birmingham, and earned his MA degree (with gold medal) in Philosophy at the University of London in 1844.
He settled in Poole, Dorset, as pastor of the Congregational church there. In 1861, he moved to Leeds to become minister of the East Parade Chapel.
In 1882, he received a DD degree from Edinburgh University.
