Biography

Davis was the hus­band of Me­lin­da Gog­gans.

A clock mak­er and sil­ver smith, he grew up in New­ber­ry Coun­ty, South Ca­ro­li­na, and ap­pears in the 1850 and 1860 cen­sus­es there.

By 1870, he and Me­lin­da had moved in with their daugh­ter in Con­cord, South Ca­ro­li­na, and were liv­ing there through at least 1880.
