Born: August 29, 1872, Hilversum, Noord-Holland, Netherlands (birth name: Hendricus de Fluiter).
Died: March 3, 1970, Azusa, California.
Buried: Valhalla Memorial Park, North Hollywood, California.
Henry was the son of Frans DeFluiter and Johanna Maria Jansen. He married twice, to Elsie Lenora Huffaker (July 23, 1899) and Alyce Leoma Guest (1932).
His family emigrated to Cleveland, Ohio, in 1882.
When Henry grew up, he became an apprentice sign painter. His life changed, though, after attending a revival by Dwight Moody and Ira Sankey in Cleveland.
Inspired by that experience, he enrolled at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois, and went on to a career in evangelism.
