Biography

Menno was the son of Hen­ry Ja­cob Diehl and Ele­ono­ra Ber­tles, and hus­band of Em­ma Jane Cron­ov­er (mar­ried 1886).

He ma­tri­cu­lat­ed at Pen­ning­ton Se­mi­na­ry, Pen­ning­ton, New Jer­sey, in 1878. Af­ter fin­ish­ing his stu­dies at Dick­ins­on Col­lege, Car­lisle, Penn­syl­van­ia, he taught at Pen­ning­ton Se­mi­na­ry (1885–86).

In 1886, he joined the De­troit An­nu­al Con­fer­ence of the Me­tho­dist Epis­co­pal Church. As of 1892, he was serv­ing in North Hope, Mi­chi­gan.

Around 1893, when Em­ma’s health be­gan to fail, they moved to New Jer­sey, then Flo­ri­da, hop­ing a change in cli­mate would help. Em­ma died in Gaines­ville, Flo­ri­da, the day be­fore Christ­mas, 1894.
