Biography

Diephouse was edu­cat­ed at Cal­vin Col­lege, Grand Ra­pids, Mi­chi­gan (BA), and Prince­ton Uni­ver­si­ty, New Jer­sey (PhD).

He taught history at Rut­gers Uni­ver­si­ty, New Bruns­wick, New Jer­sey (1974–76). In 1976, he be­came pro­fess­or of his­to­ry at Calv­in Col­lege, and was a vi­sit­ing in­struct­or at Cal­vin Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­n­ary.

He also served Cal­vin Col­lege as an ac­a­de­mic dean and in se­ver­al oth­er ad­min­is­tra­tive po­si­tions, and re­tired from teach­ing in 2013.

He served on wor­ship com­mit­tees for the Church of the Ser­vant in Grand Ra­pids, and for the Chris­tian Re­formed Church.
