Biography

Clarence was the son of Franklin Chase Dorris and Lou Ella Dorris. He married twice, to Florence Cook (1890–1910) and Alma Earl Bruce (married September 1912).

He was mentioned in the Minutes of the Annual Conferences of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South for 1916. On pages 61 and 66, the 69th session of the St. Louis Conference, held at Cape Girardeau, Missouri, September 27 to October 2, 1916, listed Dorris as a deacon who was a traveling preacher stationed in Leadwood, Missouri.

The 1930 census shows him in Carroll County, Missouri.

An article in the Moberly Monitor-Index, April 12, 1962, stated he had written over 800 hymns.
