Biography

Samuel was the son of George Duf­field, Jr., and hus­band of Har­ri­et Hay­ward.

He gra­du­at­ed from Yale Col­lege in 1863.

In 1866 he was li­censed, and in 1867 or­dained, as a Pres­by­te­ri­an min­is­ter. He served at church­es in Ber­gen, New Jer­sey; Ann Ar­bor, Mi­chi­gan; Chi­ca­go, Il­li­nois; and Al­too­na, Penn­syl­van­ia. In 1881 he be­came pas­tor of the West­min­ster Church, Bloom­field, New Jer­sey, where he stayed unt­il his death.
