Copyright re­cords in­di­cate Du­na­gan was liv­ing in Crow­ell, Tex­as, in 1907. By 1924, he was in Sher­man, Tex­as.

His song Drift­ing was pub­lished in Aus­tin, Texas, in 1912, with a de­di­ca­tion stat­ing he had two bro­thers: E. A. Du­na­gan and J. E. Du­na­gan.
