Marion was the son of General Francis Marion Easterling and Dora Jane Johnson, and husband of Agnes Hughes.
He wrote over 300 Gospel songs. Johnny Cash recorded When He Reached Down His Hand for Me on his last CD (My Mama’s Hymn Book) before his death.
When I Wake Up to Sleep No More was one of the most popular songs in the United States in the 1970’s. It was twice nominated for the Dove Award, once in the Gospel field and later in the Bluegrass category.
If you know where to get a good photo of Easterling (head & shoulders, at least 200×300 pixels),
