Biography

Fredrik was the son of Lars Fredrik Ekström and Maria Christina Sjöström.

He was an organist and elementary school teacher in Gunnilbo parish, east of Skinnskatteberg, in the diocese of Västerås, later postmaster in Öregrund.

He is represented in the 1986 Swedish hymnal with a composition originally called Klockorna, whose music was used for one of Lina Sandell’s hymns.

The same music was used for the temperance movement’s song Härlig är väcken, fridfull och ren, which was published in their 1932 hymnal.
