Granville was the son of William Nelson Evans and Mary Elizabeth Hurst, and husband of Norvesta Orlean Blansett.
In addition to writing poetry and songs, Evans was also a photographer and druggist.
Copyright records indicate he and his sons were running G. P. Evans and Sons Music Company in Tampa, Florida, as of 1924.
