Introduction

Born: 1520, Jo­a­chims­tal, Bo­he­mia (now Jách­y­mov, Czech­ia).

Died: Oc­to­ber 1597, Celle, Ger­ma­ny.

Biography

Christoph was the son of Ja­kob Fisch­er.

He ma­tri­cu­lat­ed at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Wit­ten­berg in No­vem­ber 1540 (MA 1544).

He was or­dained in Wit­ten­berg Feb­ru­ary 10, 1544, and served as pas­tor and probst at Jü­ter­bog.

In 1552, he be­came ca­thed­ral preach­er and su­per­in­tend­ent at Schmal­kal­den, Thu­rin­gia; in 1571 pas­tor and ge­ne­ral su­per­in­ten­dent at Celle; and in 1577 chief pas­tor of St. Mar­tin’s church in Hal­ber­stadt.

He re­turned to Celle in 1583 as ge­ne­ral su­per­in­ten­dent of Lü­ne­burg.
