Biography

Educated at Lon­don Uni­ver­si­ty (MA, PhD & BMus), Fox­ell took Ho­ly Or­ders.

He served as as­sist­ant mas­ter at Chig­well School (1881–83); head­mas­ter, Am­er­sham Gram­mar School, and chap­lain of the Am­ers­ham Un­ion (1883–86); mi­nor ca­non, Can­ter­bu­ry Ca­thed­ral (1886–1903); curate of St. Mar­ga­ret’s, Can­ter­bury (1887–98); di­o­ces­an in­spect­or in the Can­ter­bu­ry Di­a­con­ate (1899–1903); rec­tor of St. Swith­ins, Can­non Street, Lon­don (church was bad­ly dam­aged in World War II, de­mol­ished in 1962); and pre­si­dent of Si­on Col­lege (1917 & 1921).
