Harold was the son of Luther Franklin and Adeline Oakley, and husband of Pearl A. Redner. (Note: His death certificate misspells his mother’s given name.)
He learned piano from his mother, who was a choral director in a Baptist church. He played both the piano and organ, according to his granddaughter.
He lived in Kansas City for 43 years, and taught history at Southeast High School there.
