Biography

Richard was the son of John Da­vy Gil­bert and Elfre­da Trus­cott. He mar­ried three times, to Sar­ah Ro­sa­lie Spohn (Au­gust 8, 1875, Ha­zle­ton, Penn­syl­van­ia); Ju­lia Ann Lau (De­cem­ber 11, 1883); and Mar­ga­ret Emi­ly Jack­son Cris­pin (No­vem­ber 6, 1907, Hunt­ing­don, Penn­syl­van­ia).

He was a min­is­ter in the Cen­tral Penn­syl­van­ia Con­fer­ence of the Me­thod­ist Epis­co­pal Church, and served at the Em­po­ri­um Me­thod­ist Epis­co­pal Church, Elk Coun­ty, Penn­syl­van­ia (1883–86).
