Biography

Richard was the son of John Da­vy Gil­bert and El­fre­da Trus­cott. He mar­ried three times, to Sar­ah Ro­sa­lie Spohn, Ju­lia Ann Lau, and Mar­ga­ret Emi­ly Jack­son.

He was a min­is­ter in the Cen­tral Penn­syl­van­ia Con­fer­ence of the Me­tho­dist Epis­co­pal Church, and served at the Em­po­ri­um Me­tho­dist Epis­co­pal Church, Elk Coun­ty, Penn­syl­van­ia (1883–86).
