Biography

Son of a bank man­ag­er, Great­or­ex at­tend­ed Der­by School (closed in 1989) and St. John’s Col­lege, Cam­bridge.

He served as as­sist­ant mu­sic mas­ter at Up­ping­ham School, and mu­sic mas­ter at Gresh­am’s School in Holt, Nor­folk, Eng­land (1911–49).
