Oc­to­ber 22, 2000, Nor­wich, Eng­land. His ash­es were scat­tered on the grounds of the Meth­od­ist re­tire­ment home in­to which he and his wife had moved in 1990.

Green was ed­u­cat­ed at Ry­dal School, Col­wyn Bay, and Dids­bu­ry Coll­ege, Man­ches­ter. Be­fore turn­ing to hymn writ­ing, he served as a Cir­cuit Min­is­ter, and Sup­er­in­tend­ent, and for se­ven years as Chair­man of the Meth­od­ist York and Hull Dis­trict. His works in­clude:
