Rufus was the son of Isaac G. Grisham and Sarah Elizabeth Mason, and husband of Lavada Bush (married 1912).
For the last 11 years of his life, he lived in Ellisville, Mississippi, where he ran the Hotel Grisham until it burned down a few months before his death.
He is remembered as a singing teacher, author, song book publisher, and recording artist.
