Biography

Julia was the daugh­ter of Will­iam and Mary Samp­son, and wife of Charles Free­man Has­kell of Uti­ca (mar­ried 1866)

Her maid­en name ap­pears in an 1857 teach­er’s di­rect­o­ry of Uti­ca, New York.

An ar­ti­cle in the Ju­ly 6, 1876, is­sue of the Uti­ca Dail­y Ob­serv­er men­tioned a po­et­ry read­ing by her.
