Biography

Emerson was the son of Charles D. Has­ty and Elec­ta Good­enough Ea­ton.

His fa­mi­ly moved to Lu­cas Coun­ty, Ohio, in 1843. He seems to have spent much of his adult life in bee keep­ing, but found time to trans­late Vir­gil’s 4th Ge­org­ic, in ad­di­tion to writ­ing Gos­pel songs.
