Biography

An Ang­lican, Bes­sie was the daugh­ter of a Bel­fast flour mill man­ag­er, and wife of Al­bert Al­fred Head, a Lon­don in­sur­ance brok­er and Chair­man of the Kes­wick Con­ven­tion.

She be­came sec­re­ta­ry of the Young Wo­men’s Chris­tian As­so­cia­tion in Swan­sea in 1894 and served with the South Af­ri­can Ge­ne­ral Miss­ion (1897–1907).

Works

She wrote a num­ber of hymns, some of which ap­peared in Hea­ven­ly Plac­es & Oth­er Mes­sag­es (1920) and in the Kes­wick Hymn Book around 1937.
