Introduction

Biography

Fredrik’s fa­ther was a sher­iff, and both grand­fa­thers were priests in Os­tro­bothn­ia.

He at­tend­ed the Roy­al Acad­emy of Tur­ku, earn­ing a mas­ter’s de­gree in phi­lo­so­phy and theo­lo­gy.

He was or­dained a Lu­ther­an pas­tor in 1834, and be­came a cur­ate in Siu­ntio, and lat­er in Loh­ja.

He was in­volved in the us­ual theo­lo­gic­al de­bates of his time, first ac­cept­ing, then event­ual­ly aban­don­ing Pi­et­ism.
