Biography

Mary was the daugh­ter of Ni­cho­las Mi­chael Her­bert, a shoe­mak­er and black­ing ma­nu­fac­tu­rer, and Ca­therine Ea­gan, and half-sis­ter of Sa­rah Her­bert.

She ed­it­ed and pub­lished the May­flow­er, or La­dies’ Aca­di­an News­pa­per, May 1851–Feb­ru­ary 1852.
