Biography

A note on a score for Hodges’ mu­sic When the Trump­et Sounds showed him in Hale, North Ca­ro­li­na in 1914. The town of Hale no long­er ex­ists, but was near pre­sent day Cran­ber­ry Gap.

Based on lo­ca­tion and time­frame, it seems likely he is Jef­fer­son Lon­zo Hodg­es (1884–1981). Da­ta at Find­agrave and Fam­ily Search put Jef­fer­son Lon­zo in near­by Wa­tau­ga Coun­ty in the ear­ly 20th Cen­tur­y.
