August 7, 1942, Burbank, California. He died during a concert at the Covenant Church in Burbank, while playing the piano and singing Horatius Bonar’s The Old Story, with music by Philip Phillips.

Hultman’s family emigrated to America in 1869, settling in Illinois. At age 16, he became a preacher, and from 1906 on, he worked as Christian singer in Sweden and America and was called the Sunshine singer. In all, he wrote music for some 500 hymns. His works include:
