Amélie was the daughter of Aimé Humbert-Droz and Marie Müller.
She grew up in Neuchâtel, and in her youth, was active with the Salvation Army.
She was private secretary of Josephine Butler, 1876–85; opposed the official regulation of prostitution; and followed her mother in the movement for moral recovery.
She served as secretary (1888–1915), then vice-president (1915–25) of the International Union of the Friends of the Girl and editor of its journal, Le Journal du Bien Public.
