Daniel was the son of Halvor Iverson and Elevine Thorsten, and husband of Vivian Frazier Thorpe.
He attended the University of Georgia, Athens; Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois; Columbia Theological Seminary, Decatur, Georgia; and the University of South Carolina.
Ordained a Presbyterian minister, he served in Georgia and South and North Carolina.
Iverson helped found the Shenandoah Presbyterian Church in Miami, Florida, serving there from 1927 to 1951, when he retired. As of 2024, the church building was being demolished.
