Pseudonym: Fanny Forester.

Emily was the daughter of Charles Chubbuck and Lavinia Richards, and third wife of missionary Adoniram Judson (married 1846).
Born into a poor family, she was self-educated.
Shortly after marrying, she and Adoniram sailed to Burma (now Myanmar). She returned to America after his death in 1850.
