Biography

Isaiah was the hus­band of Ruth An­nie Gad­dis.

He en­tered mi­li­tary ser­vice in the Am­eri­can ci­vil war at age 19, as a mu­si­cian in the 120th and 169th Ohio Vol­un­teer In­fan­try. He was dis­charged in 1863 on a sur­geon’s cer­ti­fi­cate of disa­bil­ity.

Some time after the war, he be­came a Lu­ther­an min­is­ter.

At the time of the Span­ish Am­eri­can War, he re-entered the mi­li­ta­ry as a chap­lain with the 8th Ohio Vol­un­teer In­fan­try Re­gi­ment. He died of a heart at­tack while in mi­li­ta­ry ser­vice.
