Louise J. Kirkwood

1846-1914

It is sur­mised she mar­ried Will­iam J, De­mo­rest in New York Ci­ty, and she be­came a good seam­stress and an aut­hor.

In 1881 she wrote An Il­lus­trat­ed Sew­ing Prim­er with Songs and Mu­sic for Schools and Fa­mi­lies. It was ab­out ba­sic sew­ing and dress­mak­ing. Ano­ther book, School Sew­ing, was also pub­lished.

Kirkwood al­so pa­tent­ed a school sew­ing sys­tem box in 1887.
