Born: Oc­to­ber 24, 1865, Po­land, Russ­ian em­pire (now Vil­ni­us, Li­thu­an­ia).

Died: Jan­ua­ry 25, 1943, Stam­ford, Con­nec­ti­cut.

Buried: Fair­field Me­mor­ial Park, Stam­ford, Con­nec­ti­cut.

Biography

Kra­mer stu­died mu­sic at the Roy­al Aca­de­my of Arts in Ber­lin, and was an as­sist­ant to Lou­is Le­wan­dow­ski, mu­sic di­rect­or at the Oran­ien­bur­ger Straße Sy­na­gogue.

After emi­grat­ing to Am­eri­ca, he di­rect­ed Jew­ish chor­us­es in the New York Ci­ty ar­ea in the late 19th and ear­ly 20th Cen­tu­ries.

In 1883, he suc­ceed­ed Dan­iel Korn as the choir­mas­ter at Con­gre­ga­tion Shea­rith Is­ra­el (ק״ק שארית ישראל), near New York Ci­ty’s Cen­tral Park, for six de­cades.
