Edwin was the son of George Thomas Leaton-Blenkinsopp and Harriet Collingwood.
He was educated at University College, Durham (BA 1839, MA 1842).
Taking Holy Orders, he became curate of Ormskirk, Lancashire (1844); incumbent of St. James’, Lathom, Lancashire (1851); chaplain to the English army in Türkiye (1855); at Algiers (1859); and at the Fortifications of Portsmouth (1862); and rector of Springthorpe, Lincolnshire (1863).
Leaton-Blenkinsopp contributed numerous papers to periodicals. His original hymns, and translations from the Latin, appeared in Lyra Messianica, 1864; Lyra Mystica, 1865; and The People’s Hymnal, 1867.
