William was the son of George Littlewood and Catherine Stothart, and husband of Laetitia Thornton. He was educated at Merchant Taylors’ School, London, and Pembroke College, Cambridge (BA 1854, ordained 1858, MA 1860). He served as Vicar of St. James’, Bath (1872-81). His works include:
