Biography

Longacre gra­du­at­ed from the Co­lum­bia Uni­ver­si­ty School of Mines (1892), and Drew Theo­lo­gic­al Se­mi­na­ry (BD 1896).

Ordained a Me­tho­dist min­is­ter, he pas­tored in the New York Con­fer­ence (1896–1910). He then be­came head of the De­part­ment of Old Tes­ta­ment Li­te­ra­ture and Re­li­gion at the Il­iff School of Theo­lo­gy, where he served ov­er three de­cades.
