Biography

Maccall earned a Mas­ter of Arts de­gree from the Un­i­ver­si­ty of Glas­gow, then stu­died the­o­lo­gy in Ge­ne­va, Swit­zer­land.

Ordained a Un­i­tar­i­an min­is­ter, he pas­tored in Bol­ton, Lan­ca­shire (1837–40) and Cre­dit­on, De­von­shire (1841–46), then moved to Lon­don.
