Mather’s hymn Where Winds the Road o’er Hill and Dale was pub­lished in Phi­la­del­phia, Penn­sy­lvan­ia, in 1941.

Based on lo­ca­tion and time­frame, we spe­cu­late he may have been min­is­ter How­ard Ells­worth Ma­ther (1896–1964), who is bur­ied in West­town, New York.
