Biography

Annie was the eld­est daugh­ter of Con­gre­ga­tion­al min­is­ter James Ma­the­son of Not­ting­ham.

She wrote her first hymn at age 13. She was a fre­quent con­trib­u­tor to the ma­ga­zines Good Words, Mac­mil­lan, The Spec­ta­tor, St. Ni­cho­las, and oth­ers.
